As an intelligence and foresight practitioner, innovator, and thought leader, Cynthia has served in leadership and has supported decision leadership, processes, and best practices for over two decades. She has worked with clients and colleagues across industries to support wide-ranging organizational intelligence, foresight, strategy, decision-making, planning…as well as more certainty and better peace of mind.
The Decision Collaborative is the natural nexus of Cynthia’s practice, which encompasses ever-discovering, learning, and enhancing our understanding, insights, tools, and capabilities – and to sharpen our views of the landscape and horizons. To achieve this, she draws on a cross-sectional background that includes business intelligence & foresight, information science & technology, behavioral sciences, organizational leadership & development, and instruction & training. She and her Co-Collaborator August Jackson continually collaborate with subject matter and practice experts across industries, functions, and disciplines to stay on top of innovations and to drive leading & best practices.
Highlights of Cynthia’s leadership and innovative works include designing and leading SLA’s Competitive & Decision Intelligence Certificates program, serving as Founding President of the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows, founding The Competitive Intelligence (CI) Summit, advising organizational leaders, and serving as subject matter specialist in intelligence, foresight, and the intersection of AI & intelligence practices to government, legal, and industry organizations. Drawing on her intelligence/decision expertise and foresight work, Cynthia developed among the first models, guidelines, and roadmaps for AI adoption in CI and technical intelligence.
Academically, Cynthia taught graduate-level intelligence, information science, and knowledge management courses for over two decades. She is a multiple recipient of the WISE Faculty of the Year award for her instructional excellence, and her competitive intelligence course has served as the model for courses in a number of information science and knowledge management programs.
An author and frequent speaker, Cynthia has also appeared in leading publications including The New York Times, The Emerald Handbook of Modern Information Management, the industry-pioneering Competitive Intelligence Magazine and Super Searchers on Competitive Intelligence.
Cynthia has also been recognized for her professional leadership & expertise by the Strategic Consortium of Intelligence Professionals (SCIP), SLA’s Competitive Intelligence Division, and the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows.
